We're nuts for coconuts!
Coconuts are nature's superfood! They are the most versatile food on the planet and the list of health benefits from coconuts is endless.
We use 5 different forms of coconut in our “Half Baking" all from different parts of the fruit, our personal favourite is coconut oil, here's why coconut products are our fave...
The health benefits from coconuts are amazing, they are anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-parasite, making them one of the top natural immune system supporters in the world.
They help to protect against kidney disease and bladder infection and protect the body from cancers due to insulin reduction, coconut oil is high in natural saturated fats, saturated fats not only increase the good cholesterol in your body they also help to convert the bad cholesterol into GC, by increasing the GC it helps promote health and lower the risk of heart disease and complications.
They aid in the removal of free radicals that cause premature ageing and degenerative diseases, along with helping to keep hair and skin healthy and youthful, preventing wrinkles, sagging skin, age spots and providing sun protection, when used externally.
They restore and support thyroid function, improve digestion and absorption of nutrients, vitamins and minerals, they also improve insulin secretion and symptoms associated with diabetes, all aiding in weight loss.
They provide a natural source of energy and enhance physical and athletic performance, perfect for anyone with an active lifestyle.
We use organic cold pressed, extra virgin coconut oil, so it still contains all of its vital nutrients.
Large amounts of refined sugar on a regular basis cause insulin resistance, a state in which the body does not respond to the hormone responsible for controlling blood sugar correctly, insulin resistance is a significant step towards adult onset diabetes, the resulting chronic high blood sugar is usually converted to fat leading to obesity.
Because refined sugar contains no vital nutrients we use all natural unrefined sugars such as dates, rice malt syrup and coconut sugar, they all have a low glycemic index, making them suitable for some diabetics and making them an alot healthier option, with that being said, we still believe in everything in moderation.
Nuts are the foundation of Half Baked, we use cashews as the base in all of our "cheesecakes" and "mousse" layers and as much as we would love to be 100% raw we roast the rest of the nuts that we use because we reckon they're just better Half Baked!
Nuts are another perfect superfood because they help you to feel fuller for longer, helping to give you energy, lose weight, lower cholesterol and triglycerides and reduce inflammation, they are a high source of protein and fibre and contain many nutrients including B vitamins and vitamin E, folate, phosphorus, magnesium & potassium, among others.
They are a great source of healthy fats lowering bad cholesterol levels and aiding in heart health, experts have found that eating a handful of nuts everyday can increase your life span!
